If you click on the Office button in Word and then on Word Options and then
on Advanced and scroll down to the General section of the dialog, you can check the box for "Confirm File Format Conversion at open" After doing that, when you attach the data source to a mail merge main document, you will be prompted for the method by which the connection to the data source should be made. To overcome the formatting problem, you may need to add the appropriate formatting switch to the mergefields. See "Formatting Word fields with switches" on fellow MVP Graham Mayor's website at http://www.gmayor.com/formatting_word_fields.htm -- Hope this helps, Doug Robbins - Word MVP Please reply only to the newsgroups unless you wish to obtain my services on a paid professional basis. "Ms.Compuwiz" wrote in message ... I understand there is another way to mailmerge without using DDE or the default. For some strange reason I loose my field values with DDE and the default does not format correctly. This has just started..it worked before. Did one of the updates do this? -- Gwendolyn |
