Unfortunately, no, there is no way to change the shortcut for the research
pane, but there are other shortcuts for selecting parts of tables (see http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/TblsFldsFms/TableBasics.htm), and the Alt+click shortcut should not affect Alt+drag provided you are careful to keep the mouse button depressed long enough so that a click is not registered. -- Suzanne S.
