How can I design a logo in Word and save it as a JPEG?
I would like to create a logo in Word that I may save as a JPEG so that I may
email it to be used in making business cards etc. I would also like to be able to change it if I need to. PS: I am very computer UNsavvy! |

PS: I am very computer UNsavvy! Unless the logo you plan to make consists entirely of text, I'll suggest that you don't even try to make the logo in Word. The tool is almost completely unsuited to the task. Even if you manage to use Word's drawing tools to create a decent-looking logo, the only way to export it to .jpg format is to take a screen shot and paste it into a graphics program, because Word is unable to save .jpg files. You might as well start in a graphics program. There are dozens if not hundreds of better tools, everything from the Paint program that comes with Windows, through various drawing and photo-manipulation programs, to the top-end Adobe PhotoShop. In the category of free software, you can get Picasa (http://picasa.google.com), Paint.Net (http://www.getpaint.net), DrawPlus (http://www.freeserifsoftware.com/sof...s/default.asp), and a number of others you can find by searching Google for "free drawing software". After you create and save your logo, you can import it easily into Word with the Insert Picture From File command, or see http://www.gmayor.com/graphics_on_labels.htm for methods of making business cards. -- Regards, Jay Freedman Microsoft Word MVP FAQ: http://word.mvps.org Email cannot be acknowledged; please post all follow-ups to the newsgroup so all may benefit. |

Although I would agree with everything Jay has said, if you do manage to
create a usable logo in Word, one way to export it as (probably) a JPEG is explained at http://www.gmayor.com/extract_images_from_word.htm. -- Suzanne S. How can I design a logo in Word and save it as a JPEG?
The method Graham describes, saving the document as a web page to
extract the graphics into a separate folder, does _not_ extract anything drawn with Word's drawing tools. It extracts pictures inserted into Word by pasting or by Insert Picture From File. That would leave Sam still trying to make a .jpg from a logo that's only in Word. I haven't tried Stephen Lebans' macro to see whether that would handle drawn objects -- it might. -- Regards, Jay Freedman Microsoft Word MVP FAQ: http://word.mvps.org Email cannot be acknowledged; please post all follow-ups to the newsgroup so all may benefit. So I suppose you could (though not with much expectation of acceptable
results), copy, Paste Special as Picture, and then extract? -- Suzanne S.
