Default Forms toolbar

On the forms toolbar, is it possible to change the cross to a tick in the
check box form field. Or can a tick be an option the drop down form field?

No. Forms checkboxes only work with an X. However, there are a number of
ways to create and use clickable checkboxes in documents / templates. Some
require protected or locked forms, others do not. Some allow a check or tick
mark rather than an X. Take a look at the Checkbox template available at
http://www.addbalance.com/word/downl...#CheckboxAddIn for an exploration
of these.
