How to make customize command changes permanent?
Hello,
On several occassions I have gone through the trouble of customizing the commands that appear on my toolbar. However, when I restart my computer the changes I made are gone and I have the defaults. I am using XP Pro and Word 2003. How can I make these changes permanent? |

How to make customize command changes permanent?
When the Customize dialog box is open, make sure that "Save in" (bottom of
dialog box) is set to the template into which you want to save the changes (if you save the changes to Normal.dot, they will apply to all documents). In order for the changes to remain, the template in question must be saved. In case of Normal.dot, you can save the changes at once: Press and hold the Shift key while you select File Save All. If a dialog box opens, asking whether to save changes to Normal.dot, click Yes. Normally, changes to Normal.dot should be saved when you exit Word. However, if you have installed add-ins (listed in Tools Templates and Add-Ins), the problem may be that one of those add-ins prevent Normal.dot from being saved. To add to what Lene has said, the add-in that most notoriously causes
Normal.dot not to be saved is the one for Adobe Acrobat 7; see the very last section of http://www.gmayor.com/lose_that_adob...at_toolbar.htm. -- Suzanne S.
