There's an option to insert a line between columns in the Insert columns
dialog. If that is not what you mean please be more specific and quote the
Word version.

Default Columns

Graham has given you the answer if you're talking about snaking columns. If
you're referring to table columns, you need to add Inside Vertical Borders
through Format | Borders and Shading.
