When linking an Excel object to a Word document I loose color formatting when
printing. Looking at the word document on-screen everything looks OK,
opening up the linked object (Excel) everything looks OK, but when I come to
print some of the color formatting in the tables I have linked changes on my
printed document.
Any help for trouble shooting and resloving this is appreciated.

If the entire Excel object prints in black and white then open the Excel
file, take a look at Page Setup, and on the Sheet tab verify "Black and
White" is not selected.

If that isn't it, please let us know the version of Office you are using and
more about the color changes you are seeing in the printed copy.

Hi MN-IanSuth,

Word tends to lose the colours of shapes that are included in embedded Excel worksheets, but I haven't come across it losing the
cell colours of embedded Excel worksheets.

Have you tried inserting the embedded worksheet as a linked graphic, rather than as a linked Excel object (see the options under
Edit|Paste Special)? That might provide a useable workaround.

Thanks to both of you for responding - Here is what happens:

+ In Excel (Excel 2003 SP3 part of MS Office Professional 2003) I create a
table of data (a matrix with headings and rows and corresponding data
elements), I apply a an autoformat (Format Autoformat List2) which gives
me the color for the table (dark green heading, light green/white alternating
bands for the data itself).

+ I then copy the table in Excel, go to Word (Word 2003 SP3 part of MS
Office Professional 2003) select my insert position, then Edit Paste
Special select Paste Link MS Office Excel Worksheet Object - hit OK. I
then size approriately using Format Object.

At this point everything looks fine. What happens next (and I now realize I
failed to mention this in my first post) is that the Word document is
converted in to a PDF document and other PDF files are added to create a
completed report. I now realize that the issue could be with the conversion
to a PDF as this is where I see the color corruption.

I will also look for a fix through Adobe to see what they can suggest. At
the same time I will try macropod's suggestion to see if that provides a
workable solution.

From a cold and frozen Minnesota (should get to 13F today - bliss!!), many
