Default Removing Data Source After Merge in Word 2007

Does anyone know if there is a way to make a mail-merged document no longer
act like it was created from a merge?

I am creating a recipe book from an Excel file that I merged and formatted
in Word. However, now I cannot add page numbers because every page says
"page 1" since Word thinks these are individual letters instead of one large
document.

Change the mail merge main document from a "Letter" type to a "Directory"
type and then re-execute the merge.

Alternatively, use Replace (Ctrl+H) and replace ^b with ^m. That will
change all of the section breaks to manual page breaks so that your document
will then be contained within one section.
