Thanks in advance Mi Tasol Word's "page border" feature can't do that -- the thickest line it can make is 6 pt or a little more than 2.1 mm. You'll have to fake it. First separate the emergency pages from any other pages by inserting a section break before (and, if not at the end of the document, after) those pages. Open the header pane in the emergency pages. If this is Word 2003 or earlier, the Header & Footer toolbar appears; if it's Word 2007, the Header & Footer Tools tab of the ribbon appears. On the toolbar or ribbon, click the Link to Previous button to disconnect this section's header from that of the preceding section. If there is a following non-emergency section, unlink that section's header also. With the cursor in the header of the emergency pages section, draw a rectangle around the entire page -- in Word 2003 use the rectangle AutoShape from the Drawing toolbar, or in Word 2007 use the rectangle shape from the Insert ribbon's Shapes button. Right-click the rectangle and choose Format AutoShape. On the Colors & Lines tab, in the Line section, select the red color and type 6 mm in the Weight box. If necessary, drag the edges of the rectangle to the proper size and position. Close the header pane and save the document. -- Regards, Jay Freedman Microsoft Word MVP FAQ: http://word.mvps.org Email cannot be acknowledged; please post all follow-ups to the newsgroup so all may benefit. |

I think you missed the "striped" part. In addition to the color, a pattern
will be needed (I'm guessing one of the diagonal patterns). -- Suzanne S. Barnhill Microsoft MVP (Word) Words into Type Fairhope, Alabama USA http://word.mvps.org "Jay Freedman" wrote in message ... Thanks Jay and Suzanne Firstly - sorry I forgot to say Word 2003 Jays suggestion works fine tho only page by page for some reason even tho "same as previous" is on (and the whole procedure is a stand alone document) but I cannot find the patterns option that Suzanne adds is needed to complete the trick so I beg forgiveness for being slow today and ask where I can find that Regards Mi Tasol |

In the Format AutoShape dialog, click the line color dropdown and choose Patterned Lines at the bottom to open another dialog. Choose a pattern such as "wide upward diagonal" (the third one in the bottom row) and set the foreground color to red. Click OK to get back to the Format AutoShape dialog, set the width to 6 mm, and click OK. -- Regards, Jay Freedman Microsoft Word MVP FAQ: http://word.mvps.org Email cannot be acknowledged; please post all follow-ups to the newsgroup so all may benefit. |

Thank you true for a great effort That almost got it (the lines are too narrow unfortunately) so I guess I will have to send it out to a print shop or something - and they are rarer than rocking horse droppings in Papua New Guinea.
