Default Shift N causes line return

When I type a capital N by holding Shift + N, I get a line return and and the
capital N on the next line. I haven't been able to locate the shortcut to
remove it, if that's what this is.

As far as I know, you cannot assign to Shift+N from within Word. Do you have
a keyboard that allows keyboard assignments?
