Many of my Word shortuct keys, i.e. F4+Control to close a document, are not
functioning. How can I turn them on? Is there a way to turn on defaults so
the basic ones will function?

Which version of Word is this? Does starting Word in Safe Mode make a
difference to what you're seeing?
