Default when typing my curser will automatically jump up in the text

When I am typing my curser will automatically jump up in to the middle of
another
sentence and finish typing the middle of another word. How do I make it stop?

If this is a laptop, avoid brushing the touchpad with your thumbs or the
heel of your hand. If you have speech recognition enabled and aren't using
it, turn it off.
