I work at a College and I use comments in my handouts for my students. They
can get my explanation of a term used in the document by hovering the pointer over the word they don't understand. When I enter a comment I get a reference next to it like this [JS1]. I don't want that reference appearing in the text, just the shaded word so that they know they can get an explanation. Any ideas? |

Maybe Endnotes would be an alternative feature? 2cents Robert -- /"\ ASCII Ribbon Campaign | MS \ / | MVP X Against HTML | for / \ in e-mail & news | Word |

Thanks Robert
Endnotes have a similar problem in that they insert the endnote reference into the text. I want the tip to appear without any changes to the flow of the text, then students who don't want to see the extra detail can read on without the interferrence of references. Any other ideas? Any other ideas? a Hyperlink? You can change the Hyperlink (and: visited Hyperlink) character style to display just like normal text. Normally, the hyperlink address should show up as a "onMouseOver" hovering tip. It's a "hack", sure ... :-) Greetinx Robert -- /"\ ASCII Ribbon Campaign | MS \ / | MVP X Against HTML | for / \ in e-mail & news | Word |

To remove the reference number from the comments in your handouts, follow these steps:
Open the Word document containing the comments. Click on the "Review" tab in the ribbon at the top of the screen. Click on the arrow next to the "Track Changes" Snow Rider 3D button and select "Change Tracking Options". In the "Markup" section, uncheck the box next to "Comments". Click "OK" to save the changes and close the window. |
