I have windows xp that came with microsoft works suite 2000 installed on my
gateway computer. Viruses invaded my computer and in a last ditch effort to clear it up I dumped everything and rebooted again with the CD's that came with my computer. When I attempted to reload word, it called for an authentication code, (25 characters). When I entered this it gives me an "invalid code" message. I have contacted gateway and microsoft both several times with no solution. The last time gateway gave me a generic code and it would not work. They said then to contact microsoft again. Their last message was that it sounded like a problem with my computer and suggested that I come here to look for a solution. Thanks in advance if anyone knows a solution. This has been going on for months and has seriously hampered my work. I produce manuscripts on another computer but cannot send or email anything produced in a word document because my computer online scrambles it into jiberish when I attempt to send it. -- gm |

Define "dumped everything and rebooted". Does that mean that you reformatted
your computer and had to reload EVERYTHING or just that you uninstalled Office? BTW - are you running an antivirus now? -- JoAnn Paules MVP Microsoft [Publisher] ~~~~~ How to ask a question http://support.microsoft.com/KB/555375 "george monday" wrote in message ... 1. Glad to hear that you're covered now.
2. Are there any trial versions of Office on your system? Sometimes those blasted things are pre-installed and it's possible it was on your recovery disk. (I'm guessing here but it's worth asking.) -- JoAnn Paules MVP Microsoft [Publisher] ~~~~~ How to ask a question http://support.microsoft.com/KB/555375 "george monday" wrote in message ... Having several anti-virus programs is not a good plan. They will conflict.
