Microsoft Word 2000
Hello all,
I hope I am in the correct forum, if not will you kindly advise. I have just started using Word 2000 on my Windows 98 SE. I opened text, which I had copied from an e-mail to my floppy and found that every first word in every line was underlined in green, but without there being any mistakes in respect of any of them. Why should this happen? Dawn Davies |

This would indicate grammar errors in the document. Is the language of
the text correct? Look at the status bar. What language displays there? If you find that it is incorrect, the quick fix is to select the whole document and then click Tools | Language | Set Language. Choose the desired language and click OK. In the future, you may want to choose Edit | Paste Special, and paste as "Unformatted Text," whenever pasting text from the web. This ensures that the language (and other settings) at the insertion point is preserved. Also note that if you don't need grammar check, you can turn it off: On the Tools menu, click Options. Click the Spelling & Grammar tab. Clear "Check grammar as you type" as well as "Check grammar with spelling." Click OK. -- Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP "Dawn Davies" wrote in message ... Text pasted from an email will probably have a line break at the end of each
line (see http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Formatting/CleanWebText.htm); I'm wondering if this might generate a "grammatical error." Dawn, if you right click on these errors, what does Word say the error is? -- Suzanne S.
