Default Inserting a symbol in a protected form

OS: Windows 2000
Word Version: Word 2003

I have created a form in Word and once it is protected I cannot use the
Insert -- Symbol function as it is blanked out.

Is there a macro that can be created to work around this issue?

Thanks for your help!

If the symbol has a shortcut key, that will still work within a form field
in a protected form. If the symbol doesn't have a shortcut key yet, you can
create one in the template that form is based on (see
http://www.word.mvps.org/FAQs/Genera...SpecChars.htm).
