I was told that both 2007 and 2003 could co-exist on the same machine. I am
working on a project that will require that I continue to use 2003 for a month or so ( those that I share with have 2003). But I also want to use new features in 2007, so I have both versions. The problem is that when I attempt to use each one after having used the other I am asked to run setup to repair the installation. It seems that each somehow inactives access to the other. Is there a way to solve this problem or should I just remove 2007 until I am finished with this project? Thanks, JHC |

We have only recently become aware of how to solve this problem. I reproduce
below part of a post by a contact at Microsoft. It goes without saying, I hope, that you should not mess with the registry unless you are comfortable with it and know what you are doing. ================================================== == The Windows Installer is running because it is setting the CurrentVersion information in the registry between the versions. It is possible to set a registry key to block the Windows Installer kicking in. You'll want to only do this after confirming that double-clicking on a document file from the Windows Desktop opens in the version Word that you would like to be the default version for editing Word documents. It will still be possible to open the document in either version of Microsoft Word via File|Open. The registry modification is ... Use the NoRereg key for whichever version you don't want to register. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\W ord\Options Add a DWORD named NoRereg set to 1 ================================================== == -- Enjoy, Tony "JHC" schreef in bericht ... Thanks, seems that my info on peaceful co-existence was only partly true.
I'll just not use 2007 seven until I finish this project, then switch to 2007.
