Default While working in an open word how do I insert a word doc icon?

Use Insert\Object... then click on Creat from file tab and check "Display as
icon" checkbox and write the path for the file or use browser button to find
the document and OK.

I have often seen the Word icon placed in a document as a file. How do you
add a file to a typed document - you can click on the W icon and open
another file/document. This is not an attachment but looks like the icon is
embedded?
