You have a problem with file associations.
Go to Control Panel Select Folder options Select 'file Types' tab Select extension '.DOC' Click on change and specifiy the path of winword.exe. -- Pranav Vaidya VBA Developer PN, MH-India If you think my answer is useful, please rate this post as an ANSWER!! pranav. i cant thank you enough! ive been trying to sort this out for weeks
now and you really helped. i couldnt go by exactly the same route as there was no "file types" tab, however i found the appropriate answer to my question in the windows help and support section (Q9: "Change the program that opens a type of file"). thanks heaps, as i wouldnt have known where to look or what words to use to ask the question. everything has now magically been changed back to normality for me. thanks!
