Hello:
I just got a new computer and we are now required to keep all documents on a network server. I have changed all my file locations to a "My Documents" folder I've created on the network. Included in this folder is a sub-folder called "Templates" in which I have stored my customized Normal.dot. On my old computer I selected this "Template" folder to load MY Normal.dot upon start up, but it won't work this time. What am I doing wrong? Specifics: Word 2003 Startup File Location: F:\My Documents\Templates Documents: F:\My Documents\Word User Templates: F:\My Documents\Templates Workgroup Templates: F:\My Documents\Templates Auto Recover Files: C:\Documents and Settings\vcervan\Application Data\Microsoft\Word Tools: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11 Thanks. |

In word, go to Tools\Options\file locations and look at the user template
directory. That is where your Normal.dot template is so you need to copy your customized Normal.dot in that directory also you can use the Modify button and change the directory( not rcommended ) -- Best regards, Harvey "Victoria@DIG" wrote: Hello: I just got a new computer and we are now required to keep all documents on a network server. What are you doing wrong? Do not have the startup folder and the user
templates folder pointing to the same location and normal.dot goes in the user templates folder. Create a new startup folder eg F:\My Documents\Word Startup for your add-in global templates. Only Word can create normal.dot and it will do so if normal.dot is missing from the user templates folder. -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org Victoria@DIG wrote: Hello: I just got a new computer and we are now required to keep all documents on a network server.
