Default CANNOT OPEN DOCS./ATTACHMENTS W/AOL E-MAIL

Just this past week I am unable to open the doc or attachments that arrive
with my free e-mail through AOL called AIM. I receive an error message,
"MICROSOFT OFFICE WORD. THIS FILE COULD NOT BE FOUND. TRY ONE OR MORE OF
THE FOLLOWING: CHECK THE SPELLING OF THE NAME OF THE DOC. TRY A DIFFERENT
FILE NAME." I recently downloaded an update to ADOBE 8. I use Windows XP,
Internet Explorer, AIM mail. I sent a test e-mail to myself and a friend.
My friend was able to open but I could not. I am not computer literate so
don't know what to do or who to contact. Any help would be appreciated. I
have had this computer for about 3 years and first this has happened.

It sounds like you're trying to open the attachments from within the AIM
program. Instead, try saving the attachments to your "My Documents" folder.
You should be able to open them from there using Word or double-clicking on
them from Windows Explorer.

Thank You for your help. I see how I can do that now. I am just wondering
why they were always able to be opened from the AIM e-mail before a week or
so ago. I now think something on my e-mail instructions changed. and I will
check as soon as I find! I may have instructed to download all files/docs or
something like that. But at least I am now able to open thanks to you.
