Default save as and open takes about 5 minutes

When I open Word that is fine. Then I click on the 'open' folder (or File
Open). The Open box appears with the drop down list next to 'Look in:'. If I
click on this drop down list which is defaulted at 'My Document' to find
another folder it seems to seize up for about 5 minutes and then works
again. Save as also causes the same problem when I am trying to chose a save
location.

I am also having problems with Outlook when I try to save an attachment.

Any help greatly appreciated.

In Windows Vista, click on Start | Computer | Tools | Disconnect Network
Drive, and disconnected any mapped drives that are not currently available.

In Windows XP, right-click on the My Computer icon on the Windows
desktop or in the Windows Start menu, left-click on Disconnect Network
Drive, and disconnect any mapped drives that are not currently available.
