Default extension .doc,dot,xls

When transferring files from Mac to PC (via floppy or CD), the
extensions are simply lopped off -- and Windows graphics programs
can't open them until the extensions are typed back in.

Hmmm. While you can add quotes to use a *different* extension. If you add
quotes around the filename without extension, Word will simply add the
default extension.
