Default How do I get rid of a thing next to the cursor?

When I go to type an email. There is a symbol that is always there when I
type the words and a dot inbetween each word. How do I get rid of this
symbol?

Are you using Outlook? If so, I believe you are describing nonprinting
marks. Click Ctrl+Shift+8 to hide them.
